Water and sanitation sector updates. Planning and advocacy meeting for District and subcounty leaders at the District Headquarters. The District Water Officer Isaac Galabuzi revealed that the District water coverage stands at approximately 32% with rural areas covering 38% and urban areas 25% compared to National level of 66%. The District sanitation level is at 88.2% Busi subcounty has the lowest safe water coverage at 31% and latrine coverage at 25%.

Government plans to close about 50 unapproved Child care homes in Wakiso District.

The Government through the Ministry of Gender Labour and Social Development plans to close about 50 unapproved homes in Wakiso District. The Ministry is concerned about the increasing illegal homes in the District which puts lives of the children at risk. The State Minister for Children Affairs Sarah Mateke Nyirabashitishi was today officiating at a meeting for managers and administrators of unapproved child care homes at the District Headquarters.
