Wakiso District, The Parliamentary Committee on infrastructure together with UNRA officials Inspect ongoing works along the Busega-Mpigi Express Highway!!

The Deputy Speaker of Parliament Honorable Thomas Tayebwa leads a delegation of the Parliamentary committee on infrastructure, and together with officials from UNRA and Wakiso District, inspected the Busega-Mpigi Express way to assess the progress of implementation. The Wakiso District Chairperson decried the slow rate of compensation for Land Lords who gave away their land.

The Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) has held a District stakeholder consultative meeting for undertaking road safety audit and awareness campaign for Busega -Mpigi Express Highway. The highway which covers 23.7 kilometers, traversing through Wakiso District and expected to be completed by 31st July 2024, is at a completion rate of 30% currently. An inception meeting for the District political and technical leadership aimed at supporting HIV services by Infectious Diseases Institute has been held. The five year project costing $20m annually for the Districts of Wakiso and Masaka is supported by centre for Disease control.
