Wakiso District and NEMA Launch Wetland Restoration Exercise in Mayanja Wetland
The district Wetlands Office, in collaboration with the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA), has commenced a wetland restoration and conservation operation in the Gobero section of the Mayanja Wetland located in Kakiri Sub-county.
The exercise forms part of ongoing efforts to protect, restore, and sustainably manage wetlands that play a critical role in environmental conservation, water regulation, and biodiversity preservation.
The operation is being led by KMP North Commander SP Suzan Ikuku, with technical guidance from the district Wetlands Officer Veronica Nalunga, alongside officials from NEMA and other stakeholders.
The restoration initiative underscores the commitment of both the district and NEMA to safeguarding the Mayanja Wetland from degradation and ensuring its ecological benefits are preserved for present and future generations.
