Sector’s Mandate

To ensure the provision of safe, sustainable, and affordable water supply and sanitation services to the people of Wakiso District. It promotes equitable access to clean water for domestic, institutional, and productive uses, while safeguarding water resources for future generations.

Core Functions

Planning and Development of Water Supply Systems: Design, implement, and supervise water supply infrastructure including boreholes, piped schemes, springs, and rainwater harvesting systems.
Operation and Maintenance Support: Provide technical support for the maintenance and functionality of rural and urban water systems to ensure reliable service.
Sanitation and Hygiene Promotion: Promote improved hygiene and sanitation practices through community sensitization, school programs, and public health campaigns.
Water Quality Monitoring: Ensure regular testing and monitoring of water sources to safeguard public health.
Community Mobilization and Capacity Building: Train and support Water User Committees and local stakeholders to manage water facilities sustainably.
Coordination with Stakeholders: Collaborate with NGOs, government agencies, and development partners in the delivery of water and sanitation services.
Data Management and Reporting: Collect, analyze, and report data on water access, functionality, and service levels to inform planning and resource allocation.
