Men have been urged to play an active role in supporting pregnant mothers by accompanying them to antenatal care visits, promoting proper nutrition, and encouraging the consistent use of Multiple Micronutrient Supplements (MMS) to improve maternal and newborn health outcomes.
The call was made during a district advocacy and stakeholders’ engagement meeting, where officials from the Ministry of Health highlighted Multiple Micronutrient Supplements (MMS) as a key intervention in reducing the risk of low birth weight, maternal anaemia, and pregnancy-related complications.
District leaders and stakeholders were also encouraged to intensify community sensitization, address misinformation, and promote the uptake of maternal health services to ensure expectant mothers benefit from the intervention.
The rollout of Multiple Micronutrient Supplements forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen maternal and child health and improve pregnancy outcomes across communities.
