District leaders Calls for Faster Progress on Kyengera–Nalumunye–Bandwe Road Project
The district leaders have called for the accelerated implementation of the Kyengera–Nalumunye–Bandwe Road Project under the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area Urban Development Programme (GKMA-UDP) following a project review meeting that assessed ongoing works.
The meeting noted that project progress currently stands at 1.05% against the planned 1.8%, prompting district leaders to urge the contractor to take corrective measures to improve performance and meet agreed timelines.
Deputy Chief Administrative Officer and Project Supervisor, Godfrey Kiiza Rwakijuma, directed the contractor to increase manpower, deploy additional equipment and strengthen coordination among all stakeholders to ensure the project regains momentum.
Leaders also emphasized strict adherence to environmental, health and safety standards throughout the implementation period, noting that quality and compliance remain critical to the project’s success.
Major construction works are expected to commence in July. Upon completion, the Kyengera–Nalumunye–Bandwe Road is expected to significantly improve mobility, ease transportation challenges and stimulate economic activity in Kyengera and the surrounding communities.
