The Ministry of Kampala and Metropolitan affairs develops a web based system dubbed as Development Regulation and Information Management System (DRIMS) to ensure compliance to developments so as to foster orderly and sustainable developments in the Greater Kampala metropolitan area
The Physical Planning and urban development specialist Ministry of Kampala capital city and metropolitan area Wilson Awuzu made the remarks during a consultative meeting with physical planning committee held at the Wakiso District headquarters in Wakiso Town council.
The new innovation is part of the digital platform rolled out by the government where majority of government services will be provided online.
The new system will improve transparency, accountability, efficiency, convenience and improve revenue collection among others.
In addition the system will facilitate application for development permission and subsequent approval process to grant development permission by the physical planning committee.
The Chief Administrative Officer Wakiso Alfred Malinga called upon Physical Planners in the district to avoid doing physical planning in isolation but as an entity.
The GKMA-UDP aims at improving the institutional capacity of the implementing entities.
