Mapping and Household listing exercise kicks off in Wakiso
The Executive Director Uganda Bereau of Statistics Chris Mukiza today held a stakeholders engagement meeting with Wakiso District leadership concerning the on going mapping and household listing exercise expected to be completed by 31 March 2024.
He said it is important to put a lot of emphasis on mapping exercise in order to have a successful census.
He says Wakiso was handled last since its a unique District with the highest population in the country.
He says the census night will be carried out on 9th May and actual census will kick off on 10th May 2024 for a period of 10 days with preliminary results to be released by end of June 2024.
The District Chairperson Dr. Matia Lwanga Bwanika promised to give the necessary support and commitment to the census exercise due to its importance in planning and governance.
The Resident District Commissioner Justine Mbabazi emphasized the need for team work and public awareness for a successful exercise.
The Deputy Chief Administrative Officer Betty Nankindu said the District will use the census structures which were created. She promised to bridge the gaps that have been hindering the exercise to move on smoothly.
