Sector’s Mandate
To manage orderly, lawful and sustainable land development in the district, to undertake land surveys in the Local Government and verify survey results by private individuals and companies, providing technical support in solving land disputes, opening boundaries of Local Government land, providing technical support to Local Government on land management issues.
Core Functions
- Land Administration and Management: Manage land registration, allocation, and titling in line with national policies and legal frameworks.
- Land Use Planning Support: Guide appropriate and sustainable land use through coordination with Physical Planning and other departments.
- Land Dispute Resolution: Support mechanisms to prevent and resolve land-related conflicts at the community and institutional levels.
- Land Sensitization and Public Awareness: Educate the public on land rights, land tenure systems, and land use regulations.
- Surveying and Mapping: Coordinate land surveying, boundary opening, and preparation of cadastral maps to support land ownership and development.
- Land Information Management: Maintain updated land records and databases for transparency, planning, and investment decisions.
- Monitoring and Compliance: Enforce land-related policies, prevent illegal land acquisitions, and ensure compliance with physical development plans.
