Wakiso District will hold the site handover ceremony for the upgrading of the following roads to bitumen standard under the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area Urban Development Program (GKMA‑UDP):

  • Namulanda–Bweya–Kajjansi Road (7.5 km)
  • Seguku–Nalumunye–Bandwe–Kinaawa–Kyengera Road (8.9 km) + Seguku Link (0.9 km)
  • Kayunga–Senge–Kawanda Road (6.5 km)
    📍 Jjanyi Church of Uganda Primary School
    📅 Tuesday, 10 March 2026
    ⏰ 9:00 AM
    The ceremony will officially hand over the sites to the contractor to commence works.

Deputy CAO Monitors Key Government Projects in Kasangati Town Council

The Deputy Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Kiiza Godfrey Rwakijuma later this afternoon conducted a monitoring visit of government projects in Kasangati Town Council, commending technical staff for effective implementation and prudent use of local revenue.

During the visit, the Deputy CAO appreciated the Town Clerk and the council team for procuring a multipurpose truck valued at UGX 185 million using locally raised revenue. He noted that the acquisition will enhance service delivery, particularly in waste management and road maintenance within the town council.

He also inspected the ongoing construction of Nangabo Mutuba Gumu Health Centre III, funded under the Uganda Intergovernmental Fiscal Transfers Program with support from the World Bank. The health facility which is constructed by SkyLight General Services Limited is expected to improve access to essential medical services for residents in the area.

In the education sector, the Deputy CAO monitored the construction of staff quarters at St. Maria Goreti Kazinga and Gayaza Church of Uganda Primary School. He expressed satisfaction with the progress of works, noting that most projects are over 90 percent complete.

He urged contractors to maintain quality standards and ensure timely completion to enable communities to benefit fully from the investments.

Deputy Chief Administrative Officer Launches Monitoring of Government Projects in Kakiri Town Council.

The Deputy Chief Administrative Officer of W, Godfrey Kiiza Rwakijuma, has launched a district-wide monitoring exercise of government projects, starting with Kakiri Town Council.
The tour focused on key infrastructure and service delivery initiatives, including ongoing works at St. Pius Primary School for the 2024/2025 financial year, such as staff quarters, teachers’ houses, and five-stance latrines aimed at improving learning conditions and staff welfare.
Rwakijuma also assessed road upgrades, including Nakyerongoosa Roads and the 1.2km Makokobe–Lusanja road, to improve connectivity, and inspected Kakiri Daily Market, a vital hub for local trade.
Under the Parish Development Model (PDM), funds have been disbursed to beneficiaries across most sub-parishes to support poverty eradication and household income generation.
Speaking during the exercise, Rwakijuma emphasized transparency, accountability, and value for money, urging contractors to ensure timely project completion. The monitoring exercise will continue across the district to strengthen service delivery and ensure effective use of public resources.

Quality Assurance Review for GKMA-UDP Conducted at District Headquarters

Officials from the Ministry of Kampala Capital City and Metropolitan Affairs, together with representatives from other MDAs, today conducted a Quality Assurance Review Exercise for the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area Urban Development Program (GKMA-UDP) at the district headquarters.
The exercise evaluated the progress of project implementation, documentation standards, and compliance with agreed guidelines. This follows an earlier Independent Verification Assessment conducted by KPMG as part of the World Bank’s annual performance review process.
The review forms an integral part of the programme’s monitoring, accountability, and results framework, ensuring that Wakiso District and other participating local governments meet set benchmarks, maintain transparency, and deliver the expected results under the GKMA-UDP
