
The District Council Approves Children’s Manifesto 2026–2031
The District Council has approved the Wakiso District Children’s Manifesto 2026–2031, a framework that outlines key priorities aimed at improving the welfare, participation, health, and protection of children in the district.
The approval was made during a council meeting chaired by Speaker Najja Nasif at the Wakiso District Headquarters.
While presenting the manifesto,the secretary Gender and Social service Hon. Margaret Nakitende Gasanyula noted that the Gender and Community Development Committee reviewed and endorsed the document after engaging 1,098 children from across Wakiso District to ensure their voices were included.
The consultations highlighted key priorities including children’s participation in decision-making, improved health and well-being, and strengthening protection and awareness of children’s rights.
During the same meeting, council members also received updates on GKMA-UDP infrastructure projects and discussed temporary arrangements for vendors during market construction.
