Kisozi–Kitemu–Naggalabi Road Works Progressing Steadily
Construction works on the 6.5-kilometre Kisozi–Kitemu–Naggalabi Spur Road in Kyengera Town Council, are progressing steadily following our site inspection and coordination meeting involving contractors, consultants, and district officials.
The project, implemented by China Railway Seventh Group Company Limited, has attained 31.7 percent physical progress against a planned 33.4 percent. The slight variance is largely attributed to election-related public holidays, which caused minor schedule adjustments.
Earthworks are largely complete, precasting works are advancing ahead of schedule, and culvert installation is ongoing across various sections of the corridor. In selected areas, progress has been moderated to facilitate the preservation of two culturally significant trees and to resolve minor right-of-way challenges. This approach underscores the project’s commitment to balancing infrastructure development with respect for community heritage and environmental considerations.
With payments expected in the coming week to further accelerate implementation, the project remains on course for completion ahead of October 2026.
Funded by the World Bank in partnership with the Government of Uganda, the road project will deliver a paved carriageway, improved drainage systems, pedestrian walkways, and street lighting. Upon completion, it is expected to significantly enhance connectivity, road safety, and mobility within the District.
