Bukasa–Sentema–Kakiri Road Works Reach 30% Completion

Works on the Bukasa–Sentema–Kakiri Road are progressing steadily, with the project now at 30 percent completion.
This milestone was confirmed during a routine site inspection conducted by the District Engineer, Eng. Godfrey Ndiwalana; Head of Consultants, Simon Peter Odoch; and the representative of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Mr. Archilles Kiwanuka, who serves as the district focal person for the project. The 18-month project commenced in May 2025.
Construction activities have now reached the Low G15 formation level, with ongoing works including earthworks, drainage installation, and roadbed preparation along the 12.17-kilometre corridor.
The contractor, Chongqing International Construction Corporation (CICO), has commended residents and stakeholders for their strong cooperation, noting over 90 percent compliance. This collaboration has played a key role in maintaining a smooth and safe working environment.
Looking ahead, at least five kilometres of the road are expected to be tarmacked by June 2026, marking a significant step toward improving connectivity, boosting local trade, and enhancing service delivery across the district.
The February 2026 Environmental, Social, Health and Safety (ESHS) report shows improvements in stakeholder engagement and safety induction compliance. However, district officials continue to emphasize the importance of strengthening statutory documentation, grievance management systems, and worker welfare safeguards to ensure full compliance with national and international standards.
