
Wakiso District Signs Consultancy Contracts for Road Upgrading Under GKMA–UDP
Wakiso District has today signed two major consultancy contracts to facilitate the construction and upgrading of selected district roads to bitumen standard under the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area Urban Development Program (GKMA–UDP).
The first contract covers consultancy services for engineering supervision of works for:
Seguku–Nalumunye–Bandwe–Kyengera Road (8.9 km) and Seguku Link Road (0.9 km) under Lot 1
Namulanda–Bweya–Kajjansi Road (7.5 km) under Lot 2
Kayunga–Senge–Kawanda Road under Lot 3
The agreement, signed between Wakiso District and Interconsult Ltd in association with Nivaw Enterprises, is valued at UGX 2,581,800,000 and will run for 21 months.
The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Mr. Jude Mark Bukenya, signed on behalf of the District, while Mr. Morice B. Milay signed on behalf of Interconsult Associates.
In a related development, the District also signed a second consultancy contract for environmental and social safeguards for the same road projects. This contract was awarded to Nova Consults, valued at UGX 966,000,000, and will also run for 21 months.
These contracts represent a significant milestone in enhancing road infrastructure and improving urban mobility across the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area.
