Wakiso District celebrated International Teacher’s Day at Forest Park Buloba, with leaders urging the government to support private schools for their role in education. L.C 5 Chairman Matia Lwanga highlighted collaboration between government schools and parents for student welfare. District Education Officer Fredrick Kiyingi called for more teachers to meet rising demand. MP Betty Ethel Naluyima critiqued the government’s directive requiring all teachers to be graduates. #InternationalTeachersDay #Wakiso

Excited to share our progress in the fight against tuberculosis in Uganda! Our led partners @USAID and @LPSH team, monitored the TB program in Nabweru, Nansana Municipality. 

Out of 10,879 people screened, we tested 972 samples, leading to 34 diagnoses. We’re proud that 32 individuals have started treatment! Nabweru is currently seeing the highest number of TB cases in the district.

The Ministry of Water and Environment alongside the Korean Environmental Industry and Technology Institute, is set to construct a state-of-the-art fecal sludge treatment facility in Busukuma, Nansana Municipality. This initiative, valued at over $3.1 million, aims to enhance affordable excreta disposal services for our communities.

🔧 Project Details:
– Contractor: Youngiin Construction Inc.
– Duration: 18 months (Aug 8, 2024 – Dec 31, 2025)

District Water Officer Isaac Galabuzi during an advocacy meeting held today at the district headquarters urges institutions and households with full septic tanks to take advantage of this economic solution for emptying their facilities. The Prime Minister of Uganda,  Rt. Hon. Robina Nabbanja has directed all households within 200 meters of the Kitezi landfill to evacuate to safety camps immediately. This decision was made during an incident operation meeting at Kiteezi police station, Wakiso District. The Red Cross has set up temporary tents for those affected. We urge everyone to prioritize safety as we work towards a lasting solution. #Kitezi #SafetyFirst
