The District Land board paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Administrative Officer Alfred Malinga. They discussed issues relating to the operations and challenges faced by the board.
The board was led by its Chairperson Dr. Ddungu Livingstone, other members include Nakabugo Nuliat, Kabuye Stephen,Naiga Jane and J.B Balikuddembe Mutebi. The Secretary to the committee is Lutalo John and Gilbert Kasozi the Senior Lands Officer is the Technical Advisor.
The District Chairperson Wakiso Dr. Matia Lwanga Bwanika has issued a warning to wetland encroachers in Gobero wetland in Kakiri sub-county to vacate the wetland. Bwanika who was on a joint inspection with the District Executive and Natural Resources department gave the encroachers one a period of one month to harvest their produce and vacate the wetland.
He said wetland encroachment has resulted in to current human calamities and climate change in the District.
The District Natural Resources Officer Rebecca Sabaganzi said that massive restoration of gazetted wetlands will deter the communities from destroying wetlands in the district.
The warning comes months following the Presidential directive of evicting people from wetlands.

A consultative meeting for the District leadership on catchment management planning implementation in the Greater Kampala Metropolitan has been held at the District Headquarters. The training was organized by Ministry of Water and Environment in collaboration with National Environment Management Authority, Uganda Flowers Exporters Association with support from GIZ.
The program will support the development of Nsooba Walumwanyi micro catchment which will cover divisions of Nansana ,Bunamwaya and Ndejje, Kyengera, Kasanje and Kajjansi town councils and Wakiso sub-county

Today the World Bank delegation, UGIFT Mission, officials from Ministry of Agriculture Animal Industries and Fisheries and Wakiso Production staff led by the Senior Agricultural officer Jjagwe Joseph visited farmers benefiting from micro scale irrigation program in Wakiso. They later held engagements with the District Chairperson Dr. Matia Lwanga Bwanika and other stakeholders in the District.
The team made field visits to beneficiary farmers in Kira Municipality, Mende Sub County and Namayumba Town Council.

The Chief Executive Officer Vaccine Alliance GAVI Dr. Seth Berkley yesterday visited Busi Health Center III on Busi Island, on a fact finding mission on how people in hard to reach areas have benefited from GAVI donations.
He was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Health Dr. Diana Atwine and officials from Wakiso District.
Busi Island is one of the beneficiaries of GAVI support for immunization programs. The subcounty, which is located on the lsland received a fibre boat and vaccine fridge from GAVI to support immunization programs on the island.
GAVI has supported Uganda in areas of vaccination and immunization.
They appreciated Bussi health workers and technical staff for proper utilization of the equipment offered.
They also qualified the area as hard to reach, stay and operate.
