The Wakiso District Human Rights committee today held a meeting with heads of schools in Wakiso.The Committee is to start a school outreach program for a period of two years from October 2023 to 2025 .
The project will address human rights issues in schools in the District. According to the baseline survey carried out by the committee last year 2022 many students dropped out of school due to challenges relating to human rights.
Among the issues included bullying which ends to physical torture and corporal punishments by teachers among others.

The first District Technical Planning committee meeting for Financial year 2023/2024 is on going at the District Headquarters.

Wakiso District yesterday held its 2nd Investment conference 2023 at Pienel Beach Entebbe running under the theme harnessing Investment opportunities in Wakiso. The Chief Administrative Officer, Alfred Malinga said the District has vast businesses and opportunities which when tapped can create jobs and increase peoples incomes.
The Permanent Secretary Ministry of Local Government Ben Kumumanya said the conference was timely on tapping strategic interventions and opportunities that are available in Wakiso. He called for more partnerships between the District and the private sector.

Wakiso Investment conference 2023 at Peniel Beach Hotel in Entebbe Municipality 2023 under the “Theme Harnessing Investment opportunities in Wakiso”. The conference was this morning officially opened by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Local Government

Members of the Parliamentary committee on National Economy this morning visited Wakiso District projects to be funded under the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area urban Development Program.
The team was led by the Minister of State for Kampala city and Metropolitan Affairs Hon. Kyofatogabye Kabuye and Hon. Robert Migadde Ndugwa.
The team inspected planned projects for Wakiso District which include; Kawuku market.

They also visited a number of roads listed below, to be upgraded to bitumen standards. These include the following;
Kajjansi-Kitende-Bweya and Dewe link (14km), Seguku, Kasenge-Budo remedial overlay and drainage improvement works, Kisozi-Budo-Naggalabi spur (2km), Nsangi-Buloba (4.7km) and Buloba-sentema (8.3km)
